TWO-A-DAY PLUS IRON
My neighbor and I hatched this hair-brained idea while power walking. (That's when we do our best thinking & solve the world's problems. :) I share it now, with the hope that it might help the non-list-makers out there in cyberland to accomplish more with their day and feel less guilt!Have you ever struggled with a mountain of work to be done... then proceeded only to waste your free time when you coulda/shoulda/wish-you-woulda been chipping away at the mountain? Don't beat yourself up! There is hope! Goals don't just 'happen' they take discipline and TWO-A-DAY plus IRON may be part of the remedy!
TWO-A-DAY
You may be asking, "Two what?" The answer is MITs: Most Important Tasks. It is very simple. Set two MITs a day - the two things that simply MUST be accomplished before the sun goes down. The goals set need to be tangible and within reach. Write them down. Keep them on the front burners of your mind. Knock them out with gusto and rejoice in your accomplishment!GOALS AND ROUTINES
It takes at least a month of being disciplined to establish a new goal and make it a habit. Be patient. Habits become routines when repeated over and over again. Routines are systems we all have in our lives that can hinder or help. Take your morning routine, for instance. Are you a snoozer who rises at the last minute, rushing around in a flurry of feathers like a chicken with it's head cut off? Not a pretty picture, but you get the point. You have a choice. You can start the morning in a tizzy or choose to establish a different routine.
I'll share my morning routine with you because I'm a night owl by nature who chose a profession that required I become a morning person. The transformation was not easy. It took discipline and a loud alarm clock placed across the room. If I had to get out of bed to silence the silly thing, I was more likely to stay upright and get a jump on the day. I also discovered the wonders of welcoming the day in a sea of calm. It sets the tone for the rest of the day!
Morning Routine
* Wake before the sun.
* Drink water.
* Savor a cup of java.
* Make breakfast, (set MITs), read.
* Send my family off to school.
* Exercise.
* Shower.
* Off to work.
PLUS IRON
It sounds like a nutritional supplement! In a way, it is. The 'IRON' is a literal reference to 'pumping iron' and exercise. In a sedentary society that spends more time sitting than moving, exercise takes discipline. Both cardio and strength training are essential components for a healthy lifestyle. Find time for good nutrition, exercise and sleep... You'll be investing in your own health!
Sometimes small things,
like setting two goals for your day can net enormous results!
I highly recommend you give it a whirl!
