LiFE with a SMALLER PURSE

Of course, no discussion of Spring cleaning would be complete without some attention given to a woman's wardrobe accessories... particularly her purse. As the weather turns warmer I begin dreamily pondering the coming season of lighter clothes and fun, colorful accessories.  Today, I took a few minutes to switch from the little black bag to a hot pink, fun-in-the-sun version!  Purging and reorganizing helps me find what I need with speed and enables me to change purses in mere moments!  It's crazy fun to be able to make a quick switch from a pink purse one day to a lime green the next!

A few super-slick tips:

Empty the contents of the purse onto a flat surface.

Examine the items and ask yourself a few questions:
1- What do I use every single day?
2- What can I leave in my car or at my work place?  If your goal is to lighten up and simplify then the bag on your shoulder isn't the place for occasional or 'emergency' use items like the make-up bag, camera, tissues, Tylenol, manicure kit, flashlight and sleeping bag.  They can be stored off-the-shoulder and in the car or office.

Sort through the items and pare down to the bare essentials.  I carry the SiMPLE SiX:
          1- Billfold
        2- Calendar
        3- Pen
        4- Lipstick
        5- Keys
        6- Cell phone

Your needs may be a little different, that's okay.  So you swap perfume for lipstick!  Rock on!  Remember you aren't packing to live life out of your purse,  just a few essentials that you will actually use daily are needed.  You can do it!  LiGHTEN the LOAD on your shoulder!

Evaluate your purse size.  Is it a good size to hold the bare essentials or will they get lost in the voluminous folds of leather and fabric?  If it takes five minutes to find the ringing cell phone inside your purse, it could be that the purse is over-sized, over the top and over-kill!  Could you go smaller?

Keep it clean.  De-junk at the end of each day.   Really!  It is THAT easy and takes 30 seconds to do if all you carry is the SiMPLE SiX.  Remove receipts and bank statements, toss any wrappers or trash.  Voila!  You're ready for a new day!

After a week of 'Life with a Smaller Purse',  evaluate the change.  Was there a time when you did not have what you needed?  Did it ruin your day or did you find what you needed elsewhere?  If you found that a smaller, simpler purse made a positive change and worked for you... then keep it up!

ENJOY the SiMPLE LiFE!
