SHRiNKiNG STACKS

Brrr.  It is cold in St. Louis today but Spring is just around the corner and I need to clean out the old, nasty nests from our bird houses. Our feathered friends will be looking for places to build and feather their nests.  I, too am looking at our nest/home and thinking it's time to clean out the old and do some serious Spring cleaning.

How about you?  How do you feel about your home?  Is it a favorite place to hang out?  Is it serene and inviting or do you avoid it?  Would you describe your abode as a place to rest and be restored or a constant reminder of projects needing to be finished?  It is quite possible to have a visually 'quiet' home that allows you to breathe deeply and enjoy your surroundings.

It's never too early to declutter our homes and start getting organized.  How about tackling it one baby step at a time?

This week's challenge: Get rid of the paper trash... old newspapers, magazines, junk mail and other papers stacked on the kitchen counter, desktop or end tables.  Check the closets & basement, too.  They might be piling up on a shelf with the good intentions of donating them... Don't wait.  Do it this week... or today!

Pick a pile.  Pick just one pile a day (you've got 7 days for 7 piles!)  Look through every piece of mail.  Hold each piece of paper or magazine no longer than 10 seconds!  Move through the stack speedily.  Be quick.  Be ruthless.  Be done.
Sort into 4 categories.
                    SAVE - SHRED - RECYCLE - TRASH
If the item is to be saved then file it.  Papers with personal information should be shredded and the rest can be trashed.  Magazines can be donated and newspapers can be recycled.

Let us know about your progress.  We would love to hear about your success, no matter how big or small!  You can do it!
