SHARE A CAN 'O BEANS

For the earthquake victims (my sister's family) in the northern mountains of Japan, supper is a can of beans.  Breakfast and lunch are more cans of beans... yet they are remarkably thankful.  Why?  Because they are alive... and they are together

Let's face it. We can learn heaps from their example:
Being alive and together is incomparable!

Half a world away, how can we put action to something of such value?  One of the sweetest family traditions at our fingertips is eating supper together at home!  If 'togetherness' is a chosen priority, family members will rearrange schedules to ensure they are in the same place at the same time.  Our pint-sized kitchen is packed and sold-out every evening at suppertime and we wouldn't want it any other way!

Togetherness... It is better than loneliness!

Suppertime is more than just a meal.  It is a special time spent 'shoulder-to-shoulder' preparing, consuming (in a matter of minutes) and then cleaning up the mess.  The 'face time' is matchless and unrivaled.  We scrape off the problems of our day, serve up tales, chew over issues,  and reconnect with one another.   The focus of suppertime is less about the food and more about being 'together' as we gorge ourselves on laughter and enjoy the moment.

Are you ready to make a difference and do something meaningful tonight?  Share a meal with your family!  (Make amends if necessary.)  No family nearby?  Invite someone you know (or someone you want to know better) who might be dining alone... a friend, neighbor or coworker to join you for a simple meal.  If the invitation is spur of the moment, there are no expectations of grandeur... Keep it simple!  Share a can of beans and enjoy the company of another.

“What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened,
it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment.
And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now.”
